Happy New Year! Obviously, I have not made any resolutions regarding blogging more frequently. Oops.
Hard to believe Christmas has come and gone again so soon...
I wanted to really focus on the true reason for the season this year, so Santa has been relegated to the dining room hutch and the Christus statue was placed front and center on the mantel.
I'm quite amazed that it's not even considered polite to utter the phrase Merry Christmas or show any reference to the religious aspects of the holiday in public anymore. The pendulum has swung way too far, in my opinion.
So my kids will learn the real meaning behind Christmas here at home.
We hosted a neighborhood Christmas Nativity party, and the kids dressed up in costumes while Steve read passages from the Bible.
The costumes were made by a friend from Church and she has used them for years within her own family and among friends. Didn't she do a great job?
We all sang Christmas carols and everyone seemed to have a great time. I think this will be one of our annual traditions from now on!
We enjoyed a visit from Uncle John, who was on shore for awhile (he's a nuke engineer in a Navy sub).
Ah, the excitement and joy of Christmas morning! There's nothing like it.
