Soon...soon...soon I will be done and can start making projects to post about...
Holy Macaroni this has been a long and drawn-out process! It doesn't help when I keep changing my mind about the wall color. Or when I change the lights from incandescent to bright white and my lovely, soft greyish aqua turns positively pale turquoise. Ack! What a distressing realization that was. But since I had already painted 3 coats on those walls, I'm done. Too bad those new floodlights were so crazy expensive ($8 each, and there are 12 lights) or I'd switch them out. I wanted the bright white for accurate color when I work on projects, but I sure like the warmer lights better.
ANYWAY, at least I finally have the crown molding up! I was able to cut and install the shorter pieces by myself, but after hanging one long 12 footer on my own, I decided to wait until Steve could help me hold the pieces up. Things went much faster after that! I've decided that I will never pursue crown moulding installation as a career. The cutting part isn't bad (it's actually fun) but all the patching, caulking, and careful painting is irritatingly time consuming - it took 3 or 4 days in my spare time just to do the crown molding and paint the walls! I'm probably just on edge because I have so many more things to do other than this, but until "THIS" is done I can't do much else.
So I will continue to smash and chip away the tile in the adjoining bathroom (which still has to be gutted, but we're not going there yet) so the studio flooring can continue on into that space, and...
...patch all the huge gouges in the cement floor (I have no idea why the floor looks like a pock-marked war zone, but it sure does) so I can lay the flooring down, install floorboard trim, and be done already! Our handyman friend can come install the doors after the floor is in, and then I can trim them out and paint all the doors, and THEN I can finally put the room together. You've heard it a million times, I know, but we really are getting closer -- I promise.
I promise....I promise.....I promise.....
Oh, but it will be so worth it once it's complete...what a fantastic room to create in...I'm just a *wee* bit jealous. And, I love the paint color, pale turquoise or not. Good luck with all your projects!

Thanks Natalie! When my studio is done you're welcome to bring a project and hang out in there whenever you want - I'll have 3 tables, so there should be plenty of room! I'm determined to be more organized in there so I'll have horizontal surfaces cleared off unless I'm in the middle of something. Oh wait, I'm always in the middle of something! I'll make room for you though. :-)

I love the wall color! I certainly wish I had the space to dedicate to a studio! Can't wait to see the final finish (as I know you are too!). :0)

I LOVE the room color. It was the first thing I thought when I saw the pictures.
I totally have faith in your promise. Soon..soon...soon!

Thanks, Katie and Emilie! It helps to know that the color appeals to you all - nothing like a little positive affirmation to help soothe aesthetic frets. :-) It's growing on me too. Can't wait to see it all put together! I'm halfway done with the floor, so it's getting closer and closer!

I'm late to the party, but had to say that I like the wall color too - couldn't help thinking what a great backdrop it will be for all the colorful decor you are sure to add to the room - not to mention your projects! THREE TABLES!!! I only have one to work at and I have to clean it off because these people I live with seem to think they need a special place to eat - afraid I've spoiled them...

LOL Ann! The NERVE that your family seems to think that a dining room table is for eating!
I know, I'm extremely spoiled with this new work space...it's going to be the loveliest studio I've ever had, and definitely the biggest. My dining room is currently my "studio" during the remodel, and my family can't wait to get it back, plus all the other nooks and crannies where I have things stashed...it's taking over the entire house! Can't come soon enough for any of us. If only I could freeze time for about 48 hours where I didn't have any other responsibilities and I could get it done while the rest of the world is frozen, then snap back to real life and procede as normal!

I'm a "wee" bit jealous as well. I would love to have a space to renovate right now. I'm sure it will be well worth the effort once all is said and done. The crown moulding looks great, too!
