I admit it. I totally go overboard when it comes to decorating for the big holidays. Which, in itself, isn't necessarily a BAD thing. My kids sure get a kick out of it.
Don't ask my husband what he thinks unless you want an honest answer (wink). The trouble is that, in addition to a large block of time consumed in decorating (and taking it all back down again), I have accumulated a lot of STUFF. With a huge capital S.
And above-mentioned STUFF needs a place to go when it is not being happily displayed in my home = lots and lots of boxes to store. Did I mention we're a military family? Meaning, we move a lot more than the average bear. Not to get off topic, but Eliza wanted to know how many times we've moved since she was born. Hmmm...I had to stop and count. Not including the two local moves before she was born, it came to 5 times in 8 years, but only 3 different states. Yes, we're massochists and have made several local moves within the same job location. Moving entire households without any professional help is fun, in case you were wondering. Especially when you have lots and lots of STUFF.
So I've got to keep my Halloween inventory down to a manageable level. If, that is, 3 boxes is considered manageable (guilty grin). Hey, at least it's not the 16 or so boxes I have for Christmas!
...Which explains why every house we live in has to have a 2 car garage and an attic for storage. Steve's dream is to be able to park one of our vehicles in the garage consistently. Well......when at least one half of the garage is consumed with my printing press and all our tools/bikes/toys/STUFF, it makes it kinda tricky.
Yes, my husband puts up with a lot.
Lucky for me, much of my Halloween stuff is relatively small and flat, such as my decorative plates, or flat and collapsible like my Halloween drapes that I couldn't commit to sewing the orange ribbon on to so I just draped some ribbon over the edge of them instead.
I (obviously) like to do lots with ribbon. Which is good, because ribbon is not that expensive, it's lightweight, unbreakable, and takes up very little space. Not bad qualities for a girl on the move who needs easy, high-impact, and moving-friendly Stuff.
Well, that's the end of the inventory. Show's over. At least until I make some more stuff.
(Did I just say that?)
Your decorating amazes me! I bought designs I desperately want to embroider on shirts (already purchased) for my children... but will I? Not sure! No time! I might just be inspried enough to take down the Halloween decorations, though! Thank you!
