Thanks, dear friends and readers, for all your lovely comments about my Halloween things! It always makes my day to get a happy comment from you.
And a big thank you to all of the crafty sites that have featured them as well: OnePrettyThing, SomedayCrafts, CraftGossip, and TwoHeartsTogether (if I've missed anyone, sorry about that!) Thanks for spreading the word about the Halloween Ornament Tut and the Ribbon Runner. It's always fun to see my readership spike when you feature my posts, so thank you!
I made these cards as demos for a little card-making class I taught for a Saturday activity at church. I love that paper, don't you?
Please excuse the tell-tale glue marks on that blue ribbon....at the time I couldn't find my double-sided skinny tape (still hadn't finished unpacking my studio) so I had to resort to Elmer's glue. All you scrapping experts out there, insert cringe here. :-)
I should have pics of our first remodelled bathroom soon...still have a few things to figure out before it's all done.
The weather was so gorgeous today (after a week of Oregon-esque rainy weather, it was a welcome change) that I stopped my indoor house chores to paint the exterior shutters of our house. They used to be a faded hunter green, now they're black and spiffy. I even climbed onto our porch roof to do the second story, which impressed Hyrum immensely. As long as I didn't look down, I didn't get queasy, so that was good! Hyrum wanted to join me on the roof, but he (thankfully) settled for perching halfway up the ladder until I was done.
Steve's birthday is coming up, and his parents are coming to visit for a couple of weeks shortly after that, so things will be busy as ever in these parts! I haven't even started my kids' costumes, I'd better get cracking! (BTW, anyone know the origin of that statement? My mom used to say it all the time, so it just comes as second nature to me.) Edith? If anyone knows or can find out, my friend Edith can. She's my fountain of all knowledge. :-)
So anyway, here's to all of you wonderful people out there in blogland! You're great.
This fountain of all knowledge had to look it up--"get cracking" is based on the old slang use of "to crack" which meant to travel at speed--maybe it related to cracking a whip?--so it doesn't just mean get going, it means get going FAST.
I imagined it meant something like, "Get cracking those nuts, kids! Only two days till Christmas and we still have ten fruitcakes to make and deliver!"
