I always love going to my sister's house to see what lovely things are on display in her home. She has a very playful mix of old, timeworn things and very sleek, contemporary things.
This blue box is one of my favorites. Tricia found it in the garage when they bought the house, it was left there by the previous owners. Can't believe they didn't want it - I'm totally covetous of that rustic beauty! Such incredible textures and I love the joints on the corners.
I wonder what it was originally used for? Maybe the little birdie knows.
This is what she currently has on display in the front entry. That's my monoprint on the wall. It has an old family photo stitched onto it in the middle of the print.

I didn't create this painting, but I love it. I also REALLY love those striped candlesticks on display.
Tricia is really big into photography, and this is one of the antique versions in her collection.
I get almost giddy when I see really old typewriters. I just love the classic look and feel of them, and my fingers just itch to plunk down on the keys and see the little letter type fly up and hit the paper. Those things require a lot of finger strength, let me tell you! I really admire the skills secretaries used to have - can you imagine cranking out letters without a single mistake while striking the keys with all your finger's might?
Just look at those beautiful keys.
Even the sticker is fantastic.
Hang on to that piece of history, sister dear. It won't be long before kids will hardly know what a typewriter is or how it works. Hmmm...that's how I feel about textmessaging or Twittering...I'm falling way behind in the ongoing Technology Parade, but that type of stuff doesn't even interest me. Of course, having a phone phobia doesn't help matters. :-)

What a fun way to decorate a piggy bank, eh? I'm not sure where Tricia got these little piggies, but they sure are inspiring.

As you can see, Tricia and I share a passion for Toot and Puddle. They are, in my opinion, the most endearing piggly-wigglies ever. With Olivia (created by Ian Fleming) in a very close second.
I simply adore the T&P children's books, written and illustrated by Holly Hobbie. Her watercolor illustrations are breathtaking. If you've never read the Toot and Puddle books, you are missing out, I can assure you.
These are Christmas ornaments. Why box them up in storage when they can be enjoyed year round?

Tricia made a darling pinwheel mobile from double-sided scrapboking paper. Such a playful focal point for her little sweetie.
Okay, this has absolutely nothing to do with my sister's house, but as we were driving along in her town, we saw this adorable mini-van and I had to get a shot of it. Makes me want to run up and give it a big hug, it's so perfectly cute. Love the color too. Somebody did a great job on that little number!
I was going to post pics from the awesome birthday bash that Tricia had for her baby's 1st BD, but my bed is reminding me that I need to get up early in the morning for a very full day, so I must save it for another time. I'll be back soon, I promise.
I love the train on the wall! Can you tell me more about how she made it. I'm assuming it was made and not bought like that. So cute!
