To honor Thanksgiving, the frequently looked-over holiday squeezed in between Halloween and Christmas, I made this gratitude wreath.
I know those are bordering on Christmas colors, but I couldn't find any nice brownish orange ribbon so I'm hoping those bows will look harvesty enough when coupled with the grapevine twigs and the pumpkins down below. Besides, I'm really into the color combo of red and brown right now.
And these acorns certainly look autumn appropriate...wouldn't that prehistoric squirrel on IceAge love to sink his teeth into acorns that size?
I found this plate at HomeGoods, then printed out the saying (I borrowed the phrase from a hymn) onto cardstock. I used a bowl to trace a perfect circle, cut it out, and taped it to the brown scrapbook paper. Then I used pinking shears and carefully cut around the white cardstock, trying my best to keep an even border all around the white circle. It's a little wobbly, but hey - so am I so it's okay. :-) I attached the paper to the plate using double-sided scrapbook tape.
Are you tired of seeing my ribbon bows yet? I had mentioned in my Halloween tutorial for these that they would look nice on a wreath. Didn't exactly get it done for Halloween, but here they are now!
Like I said, I have a thing for red and brown right now!
Aren't these the sweetest little favor boxes? They're for a special evening devotional for the women in our church tonight. It was going to be at my house, but things have been so busy we weren't able to finish (or even start!) remodeling the bathroom on the main floor, not to mention do the kind of cleaning such an event would require...so I chickened out a few weeks ago and another kind lady is hosting it instead. It's a good thing, because my entire family has rotated through being sick this past week (minus me, knock on wood).
Anyway, I ordered these darling little boxes from efavormart.com and they even printed the little message on the lid. Inside there is a tealight tucked in tissue. It took quite awhile to fold all those boxes and lids, then tie all the ribbons - I'm glad a had some help doing it! Looking forward to this evening...I'm making pumpkin cream puffs for it too, which I'm looking forward to tasting. It's a new recipe, I'll let you know how it goes.
May you enjoy your preparations for Thanksgiving, and remember to contemplate your blessings in the process!

Gorgeous!!!!

It all looks lovely! We don't celebrate thanksgiving here (I guess our Christmas celebration resembles your thanksgiving way of celebrating, since we don't exchange gifts then but focus on gratitude and the Christian meaning more), but it sounds like a lovely and valuable holiday.

I also have a thing for brown and red this year, evident with the napkin rings I made for Thanksgiving: http://www.kormondy.com/?p=105
Have a blessed Thanksgiving! Everything looks wonderful.
