My niece's wedding is 2 weeks away, and I'm working hard to get everything ready for the reception!
I made these pennant streamers to go along the balcony of the deck in the backyard location (how's that for a prepositional phrase?) of the reception. They'll be backed with white fabric draped along the rails. The pennants are a simple thing to do, but by the time I cut out, sewed, turned right side out and fiddled with the points, ironed, and assembled all 40 of them onto the bias tape strips, I was ready to be done (slight understatement).
Here's a detail of how they're attached. I know there are tuts out there on how to do these, but if enough of you express interest on how I did mine, I'll see about doing a tut myself.
These would be a fantastic way to decorate for a birthday party, and if the fabric was gender neutral you could use it for girls and boys. (Edit: Wendy left a great comment at the end of this post suggesting to make one side girl colors and one side boy colors, so you get 2 banners for the work of one!)
I love the way the ribbon boards turned out, they'll look so good with childhood photos of the bride and groom tucked into them.
I heart peonies. I just happened to have a couple of these in our front yard, so I stuck them in the glass bottles.
Speaking of which, I also really heart these glass bottles. Love the textures and the subtle aqua color.
Just playing around with the camera...
So in a few weeks I'll have about a million photos of the wedding to go through and edit, and I have a sneaky suspicion that ones of the decorations and the cake and food will end up being featured here....imagine that!
I've got to start making an excruciatingly detailed list of everything to bring across the country - we're going to have 4 suitcases full of decorations and serving dishware!
Happy Memorial Day weekend to ya'll, if I don't post again before the end of it. Steve leaves on a week long business trip starting Monday (fun, fun) but maybe we'll be able to do something in the morning before he leaves. Here's hoping!

Beautiful, Shelley, just beautiful. What a lucky bride to have you for an aunt!!!

Very Pretty!
Could you make the pennants reversible? One side a girl color and the other a boy color? Or maybe one side is a spring theme and the other a fall? That way you could use it multiple times, but only have to make it once.

Shelley - for the penants, did you put interfacing in them or anything or just two layers of fabric? I'm going to attempt one for my firend's son's room. Also, what size did you make them. Oh and BTW - the pics of the wedding are wonderful. You did an breathtaking job. I'm sure your niece was thrilled. Thanks for any info on the pennants.
