I took the kids to the thrice-weekly open air market that circles the Aloha Stadium today. We have a lot of Steve's family visiting on island this month, and the original plan was to meet them there at the Swap Meet. Well, any of you with multiple little ones knows how hard it is to get everyone dressed, fed, sunscreened, snack-and-toy stocked, and buckled in to go anywhere. We made it right about the time they were leaving. No worries, we had a fun time anyway, as I gave both kids $5 to spend however they wanted. They thought that was a really, really special thing. Hyrum blew his on the first helicopter toy he saw, but Eliza was very careful about how she spent her money (we spent a long, long, time deciding what she was going to buy). Fortunately, my budget was a little bigger than $5. I've been looking for a unique pink pearly necklace for a long time now, and came away with this beauty.
I've also been scouting for a cool chunky turquise necklace for quite awhile, and was happy to find this one. Sometimes I like things that are a little irregular, not all perfectly smooth and symmetrical. Especially with something like turquise.
I was pretty nervous about how the kids would do at the Swap Meet, as Hyrum likes to run away and Eliza likes to whine, but they did really well this time! They each had a shaved ice (sorta like a snow cone) on the way out of the market, and that was a happy conclusion to our little outing.
